Description;
This site is a sub-site of the larger Silberbichel vineyard. Located south east of the village, this is just 5.25 Ha and is a slight incline, sloping east, on the easternmost border of the Silberbichel vineyard. The soils are gneiss with mica inclusions; there is a layer of loess and topsoil here – 60-120cm before you start to hit primary rock. Nikolaihof is the only winery to bottle this site on it’s own, but it is not a true monopole.
Tasting Notes;
This beautiful Riesling from Nikolaihof has a pale yellow colour with a greenish tint. It offers a very pleasant bouquet, showing pretty scent of citrus fruits, lemon curd and apricot. It is incredibly fresh with sweet notes of honey and brioche and a subtle anise underpin. It is bright and juicy with the sweetness of fruits and stimulating acidity. Great pleasure in the mouth as the juiciness flirts with the tongue with a touch of spice. The low alcohol contributes to the palate’s desire for more and for the accompaniment of a cuisine that seems as aromatic and original as the wine itself.
Food Pairings;
This wine goes well with fish and seafood, as well as salads and light snacks. It also compliments Asian food and Sushi.
