Description:

The Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) is one of the few grape varieties with red flesh. It is well-known that most red varieties have white flesh but there are a few exceptions to this rule, where we can find strongly-coloured grapes which produce wines of an unusual intensity.

Atalaya Alaya Tierra is a single varietal wine made exclusively from Garnacha Tintorera, a red variety characterised by its intensity and deep colour. This wine come from old vineyards located in the Almansa region, at an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level. The vineyards, more than 40n years old, are planted in limestone soils, poor in nutrients, which limits the yield of the vines to between 1,500 and 2,000 kilo’s per hectare, favouring a higher concentration in the grapes. The continental climate, with rainfall of less than 350 mm per year, contributes to the uniqueness of this wine. The wine is aged for 15 months in French oak with a small proportion in American oak barrels.

On the nose, it presents a symphony of ripe dark berries, like blackberries and blueberries, intertwined with subtle hints of spices and a touch of vanilla. These aromas foreshadow the indulgent palate that follows.
Upon the first sip, the Alaya Tierra 2021 unveils a velvety texture that coats the palate beautifully. The fruit-forward character persists, with luscious flavours of black cherries and plums, complemented by a delicate underpinning of cocoa and well-integrated oak notes. The wine’s balanced tannins and vibrant acidity lend structure and elegance, making it a versatile companion for a range of dishes.

Ideal to accompany with game meat and creamy rice dishes, stewed legumes, mushrooms, game and poultry, casseroles, fish and seafood sauce, smoked, cured and blue cheeses, grilled and roasted white and red meats.
